1. HORSE-DRAWN HALLOWEEN RIDES

Explore Richmond Park in the dark for a thorough spooking this Halloween. Meet your horse-drawn carriage at Roehampton Gate and embark on an hour-long tour, during which your guide will tell you all about the history of the park, the ghosts that haunt the grounds and a Victorian murder that was only solved in 2010. Tucked up under blankets with a glass of sloe gin in hand (both included with your ticket), guests will also hear all about the gnarled Shrew Ash, an ancient tree that was once thought to cure ailments with the help of a congregation of witches.

2. HALLOWEEN CRAFTS

There's a free Halloween themed arts and crafts day in Victoria Tower Gardens. Children aged 11 and under can create a Halloween hat and make a pumpkin head. Free, just turn up, 31 October

3.LIGHTS AND LANTERNS

Severndroog Castle: Greenwich, holds a family event, lighting up the castle with Diwali lights, Chinese lanterns and firework art. Activities include crafts and storytelling. £2.50 per person, 10.30am-12.30pm, 1 November

4.THE HALLOWEEN PROJECT

The Halloween Project is described as an interactive theatre/arts/music event. Theatre company Stitch in Time takes over a gothic warehouse in Bermondsey for two nights of spooky interactive performances on the theme The Dark, the Grotesque, and the Unexplained. £10, prebook, 30 and 31 October.

5.HAUNTED HOUSE PARTY

 Bethnal Green Working Men's Club throws open the doors for a haunted house themed Halloween party. Expect live music, games and plenty of dancing. £9, prebook, 31 October.
