If You Go Down to the Woods today... Wood Festival 15-17th May 2015

This weekend I was lucky enough to be pulled out of the East End of London by the lovely Amelia Gregory of Amelia's Magazine. We spent the weekend at the intimate gathering that was Wood Festival.  A small festival in the community run Braziers Park, Oxfordshire , with over 500 children present and some really cool bands performing on an eco stage.

We had a couple of days surrounded by some of the biggest horse chestnut trees we have ever seen and some of the best May weather to enjoy lots of outdoor fun in the warm sunsets and still evenings. As well as the talented folk bands (the organisers are in Co-Pilgrim) we watched two children paddle a coracle and capsize,  we watched bees making honey, (Bee Goods were also selling amazing garlic and cinamon infused honey) and expert bubble makers creating huge frogspawnish billowing shapes for children to pop. The site has a rustic wooden playground built between the trees which was a breath of fresh air from the plastic ones we see around Hackney. The food was perfect, I didn't bring a thing with me and lived off the excellent wood fired pizza oven, raclette chips (yes cheesy chips!) , twisted chips, and full english breakfast with fresh asparagus as well as plenty of healthy options to snack on for hungry children.

Its the kind of festival you almost don't want to tell anyone about as its too good, but apparently the UK now has over 450 festivals per year to choose from and I know I shall be heading to a few more as the warmer weather kicks in.
